All Pink Everything: Help Us Support Breast Cancer Awareness
October is breast cancer awareness month--a month dedicated to the education about and fundraising for research on a disease that has touched the lives of most people you will meet. It is a time to to learn about things like prevention, diagnosis, treatment  and cure, and it advocates for support of those who are affected. Tilted Sole will join the cause this October by donating a $1 per order placed during breast cancer awareness month to be donated to a nationally recognized breast cancer research foundation. Read on to learn how you can help!

Now through October 31, Tilted Sole will donate $1 for every order placed at TiltedSole.com to help support breast cancer research, prevention and support. Our hope is that this contribution will not only help provide funding for research and education, but will give hope to those in our communities and show them we care.

"We would like to take this opportunity to help increase breast cancer awareness among our customers and use our pink product to help support breast cancer research," said Jeff Lu, director of e-commerce marketing.

Tilted Sole and its parent company are involved in community events, like school renovations, food drives and more. This fundraising opportunity gives us the chance to get our digital channel in the giving-back.

Wild Thang: Rihanna for W Magazine
Singer, fashion icon and trendsetter Rihanna is wild in' out in the September 2014 issue of W Magazine. Her editorial, which features fur, face paint and ferocious animals (OK, the wolves so seem pretty tame) is the newest evidence, along with the beautiful set with Iman and Naomi Campbell (see below), that Ri Ri should try her hand at modeling.

Ri Ri is already hang out--and holding her own--with the big dogs of fashion. Check out the shoot she did with icons Iman and Naomi Campbell for Balmain in the August 2014 issue o W Magazine.

#FlashbackFriday: Boy Meets World

T-minus two hours until the world premiere to the reunion of the Boy Meets World cast in the show's spinoff, appropriate titled Girl Meets World. Talk about #FlashbackFriday! We are bursting with excitement!

Girl Meets World, which airs tonight at 6:45 p.m PST on the Disney Channel, follows the antics and growing pains of Riley Matthews, the tween-age spawn of our favorite on-screen couple, Corey and Topanga.

Here are some things to know:
-Riley's best friend and sometimes bad influence (think the Shawn Hunter to Corey Matthews) is Maya Hart.
-Corey teaches the history class Riley and Maya are enrolled in.
-Corey and Topanga also has a 5-year-old son named Auggie.
-Most of the Boy Meets World cast make frequent appearances: Shawn, Feeny, Minkus and Alan and Amy Matthews.

Join us tonight as we swoon over bad-boy-turned-good-boy Shawn and reminisce on growing up with Corey, Topanga and the gang!

Maya Angelou, Author, Poet, Activist and Inspiration

As you may have heard, author, poet and activist Maya Angelou, 86, died yesterday at her home in North Carloina. Angelou, who had worked as a singer, dancer, director, playwright and poet, was best known for her book I Know Why the Caged Bird Signs, a 1969 publication which recounted her sexual abuse and caught the attentions of all Americans.

Not only was Angelou, who lived through segregation, a fierce fighter for civil rights, she was also a inspiration to female writers (and non-writers) across the literary and poetry spectrums. She was the first African American female poet laureate. She was the first African American woman to read at a presidential inauguration (President Bill Clinton requested that she read an original poem at his inauguration). She was the first African American woman to have a screenplay (Georgia, Georgia from 1972) filmed and nominated for a Pulitzer Prize. She has even been credited with making Tupac cry!

A huge literary talent was lost with her passing, but we want to thank Maya Angelou for being a fighter of civil rights and a role model for women. She taught the value of being true to oneself and standing up for one's beliefs. She reminded us that, no matter what obstacles we come across or hurdles we must clear, still, we will rise.

MJ Performance Has Us Feeling Nostalgic (And We Love It!)

Let's throw back just a bit to this weekend’s super cool Billboard Music Awards performance by none other than the King of Pop, Michael Jackson!

This wasn’t a grainy replay of a bell bottom-and-afro-happy performance by the Jackson 5 (little Michael sure was adorable though!).  This was a full body, pop locking, pelvic thrusting hologram that moonwalked the stage to his post-mortem single, “Slave to the Rhythm.” And it's had us tapping our toes all week!

Sure, Tupac and ODB did it most recently at Coachella and Rock the Bells (Elvis was first in a 2007 performance with Celine Dion), and both performances were great. But MJ’s was a full-on production, complete with a posse of hologram back up dancers, a digital throne room and pyrotechnics. Not only did the 3D performance receive a standing ovation from the audience, who were also entertained by live dancers in the aisles of the auditorium, but it was also seen by 10.5 million viewers—the most the Billboard Music Awards has had in 13 years. Even after his passing, MJ is still entertaining and has us moving and grooving.

In case you missed it, check out this stellar performance by this musical icon. And if you’re a slave to this song like we are, scroll down to enjoy some of our favorite MJ hits. Because, let’s face it, we’re all dancing machines at heart!
